The Centro Velico Piombinese and the Yacht Club Marina di Salivoli have been designated organizing sailing clubs for the 2021 European Fireball Championship which includes a week of regattas from 11 to 17 September.
The Fireball, a dinghy with double crew, has attracted the attention of the public for its performance characteristics, especially in Anglo-Saxon countries, where it has found a wide diffusion. This reality can count on a circuit of national and international regattas of excellent level. The Fireball Italia class has been carrying out national regattas in our city for years and in 2019 the Italian Championship landed in Piombino. Now with the 2021 European Fireball Championship we will finally be able to follow an event full of competitive and fun races.
The foreign crews, coming from many countries including Ireland, England, France, Slovenia, Belgium, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, will find themselves in an ideal regatta course for the position and for the constant presence of wind, in the stretch of water between Piombino and the Island of Elba.
The Centro Velico Piombinese, founded in 1950, is among the first sailing companies registered with the FIV, in the past it has hosted and organized numerous events of international importance, in its sporting history it has produced Olympic athletes and winners of numerous World, European and National titles, its sailing school is one of the best and most popular in Italy. The YCMS is a company, founded in 2000 with the inauguration of the Marina di Salivoli, whose activity has always been located in the field of pleasure sailing, has organized many IRC and ORC winter championships and has always promoted, together with the CVP, of the prestigious “100 di Montecristo” offshore regatta.
